Not all ceramic materials are the same. For this reason, not all RUBI scoring wheels are created equal.
RUBI manufactures its scoring wheels and rollers from tungsten carbide, whose main characteristic is its high resistance to friction wear. Historically, most ceramic materials used for surface coverings have featured glazed and smooth surfaces with minimal roughness. With the introduction of non-slip materials and rustic stoneware, particularly suitable for outdoor applications, ceramic surface roughness has increased. To minimize the impact of this roughness on scoring wheels, RUBI developed the GOLD range of scoring wheels and rollers.
Each scoring wheel is individually ground so that each diameter has a scoring angle suited to its function and application. Each wheel diameter offers different results and performance depending on the type of ceramic material for which it was designed.
RUBI GOLD scoring wheels are recommended for glazed stoneware (BIIa / BIb), rustic or extruded stoneware (AIIa / AIb), and porcelain stoneware (BIa) with smooth and/or slightly rough finishes.
The GOLD range of scoring wheels increases the natural wear resistance of tungsten carbide through a titanium coating. Thanks to this treatment, RUBI GOLD scoring wheels and rollers offer a longer service life than SILVER scoring wheels and rollers. Under the same operating conditions as a SILVER wheel, this increase in service life can reach up to 50%.
RUBI GOLD scoring wheels feature a triple-fluted shaft geometry, a RUBI-designed and patented feature that ensures proper assembly on the manual cutter, as well as firm fixation and stable, vibration-free scoring. This provides the ideal combination for consistently achieving the best results.
