Dewalt is undergoing a major transformation of its 20V Max XR lineup, focusing on enhancing the tools and batteries that power them. The most notable change is the introduction of the PowerPack battery, featuring advanced Li-ion cells, which provides superior power and capacity, setting a new standard for Dewalt's XR line.
Historically, Dewalt's XR branding meant "extended runtime," but the company is now redefining this label to reflect the power delivery potential of its top-tier products. The XR line will now exclusively include batteries like PowerStack and the new PowerPack, offering better performance compared to older standard cylindrical cells.
Additionally, Dewalt is updating the appearance of its non-XR batteries, which will no longer carry the XR branding. These changes are mainly cosmetic, aimed at creating a consistent look across the 20V Max line, with a focus on clarity and product differentiation.
On the tools side, Dewalt is rebranding its FlexVolt Advantage and Power Detect series into the new XR lineup. The new XR tools, such as the DCS590 circular saw and DCD1007 hammer drill, promise optimal performance when paired with high-capacity XR batteries. These tools are designed to fully exploit the potential of Dewalt's advanced batteries, offering users unparalleled power and efficiency in their work.
